About Me
Emily Hannel
NYS Certified Elementary Teacher
Early Childhood and Childhood Education (Certified Birth-6th Grade)
Hi! My name is Emily Hannel and I am a New York State Certified Elementary Teacher. I was born and raised in Buffalo and have a lot of experience with the New York State education system, the Common Core Standards, and the Next Generation Learning Standards.
I achieved my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Buffalo State College, majoring in Early Childhood and Childhood Education with a focus on Literacy. I also completed an Accelerated Pathway in “Curriculum and Instruction” at Buffalo State. I finished both undergraduate and graduate school with a 4.0 GPA. Therefore, I take education very seriously!
That being said, I love to have fun with my students. I love to turn mundane concepts into engaging and interactive games whenever possible. I have been a private home tutor since July 2019.
I pride myself on being professional, trustworthy, and reliable.
When I am not tutoring I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, crafting, and gardening.
With patience, practice, and exciting lessons, we can help your child reach his or her potential.

Why Do I Teach?
I am incredibly passionate about education and the students I teach.
I want to be my students' advocate and their biggest supporter. I love encouraging students to have big dreams and goals and reminding them (every single day) that they matter.
It is the small moments that make teaching so fulfilling. I love watching students’ knowledge expand, witnessing their excitement over a new book, or experiencing those wonderful ‘a-ha!’ moments when they figure out a difficult concept.
I aim to foster a community of students who collaborate to learn and grow from one another. I want to model respect and self-love for my students.
I want to inspire my students to not only be passionate readers and lifelong learners, but to also be empathetic, compassionate, and kind human beings.
